Healing Traditions Therapeutic Massage

Touch the body. Calm the mind. Heal the Spirit.

About the Practitioner

Hi! My name is Tammy Deatelhauser. My husband and I have always considered Allegany County as our home. I am a graduate of Fort Hill High School. For 8 1/2 years, I was an army wife while my husband was stationed at Fort Bragg serving with the 82nd Airborne. After Desert Storm, we returned to the area, because this is where we wanted to raise our children. My children are now grown, and I enjoy spending time with my grandchildren.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and the founder of Healing Traditions Therapeutic Massage. My mission is to provide professional therapeutic massage therapy for the health and well-being of those who desire a massage. One of the services I provide is in-home massage to hospice patients at Hospice of the Panhandle.

I received my training from Allegany College of MD, where I gained 1500 hours of hands on experience. I graduated in 2008 with an Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in Therapeutic Massage. I am licensed in WV and MD and I am Board Certified Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB) by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).

I bring over 20 years of experience in critical care experience to my massage practice. I have a working knowledge of a variety of disease processes. Prior to becoming a massage therapist, I worked for over 16 years as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT). From this experience, I gained critical experience and the hands-on knowledge of the body and how it functions. I use this knowledge to adjust the massage to meet your individual needs.

New techniques continue to be developed that combine traditional healing practices with massage techniques, creating new and unique experiences. This is not a static field - we are making leaps and bounds in medical research! I continue to increase my knowledge base by attending seminars, taking CEU classes, and doing research online. When I started 12 years ago, if you had ever been diagnosed with cancer, you could not get a massage. Today, we are in a cancer treatment center. Yes – it is necessary to make adjustments, but that means we need to understand your cancer, where your tumors are, and how your specific chemo affects you.

I do not operate a spa. I chose this route because I want to work with people with chronic medical conditions. I like to give them an alternative to the "pill for the ill" philosophy of Western medicine. I believe in the power of touch and how important it is to help people heal physically, mentally and spiritually. I work to help balance the body. It’s surprising how so many people are disconnected from their bodies that they do not realize some of the locations where they are having issues!
